Visit Bengaluru – A truly cosmopolitan Indian city

Located about 1km (actually 949m) above sea level in the centre of South India, Bengaluru is a fast paced blend of the old and new. An exciting destination with pleasant sights to experience, mixed with the sensations of a vibrant cosmopolitan city. Bengaluru is also called “The garden city” because of it’s vast parks and greenery. It is very difficult not to be awed by its allure.

Bangalore was the centre for British administration from 1831 to 1881 with a sizeable cantonment, the influence can be seen even today just like in HK or Singapore. Bengaluru has spread way beyond the mud fort and four towers constructed by it’s founder, Kempegowda (lit. Kempu: Red, Gowda: Landlord).

A thriving economy, buoyant lifestyles and the largest expatriate population has converted the capital city of Karnataka into one of India’s fastest growing cities.

Out and About in the City

Bengaluru has a good network of transport in and out of the city by rail, road and air. Buses operated by the local government’s Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) and plenty of private operators provide easy and inexpensive travel within and outside the city. It is worth mentioning that ride hailing services including cars and auto rickshaws are best for local travel inside the city.

Bengaluru’s own metro rail network, ‘Namma Metro’ provides a comfortable and service inside Bengaluru connecting its various destinations.
