eSIM can be installed as soon as the eSIM is activated. To know when to install your eSIM, check the activation policy. Most eSIMs will only activate at the destination once they connect to any supported network. Some eSIMs will activate immediately on installation, regardless of the location.

There are several reasons for this error. Often this error is seen when a used QR code. or due to poor connection or improper scanning of QR code..

Resolution:

  • Verify if the QR code is valid.
  • Move to an area that has good network connection
  • focus the camera on the full QR code and scan the QR code again

Caution!

It is important to note that if the eSIM has been removed and you are trying to reinstall it, then it is not possible!

If you encounter this error on your first time of installation then, this error is possibly due to a poor connection, VPN enabled, or too many eSIMs installed on the device.

Please follow the steps below to install your eSIM successfully:

  1. Disable any VPN
  2. Ensure that you have a good and stable internet connection
  3. Remove any eSIMs you will no longer use
  4. Check if the software is updated to the latest version
  5. Try to install an eSIM through an alternate installation method.
In case of difficulty installing the eSIM by scanning the QR code, you can try to manually install the eSIM. Follow the below instructions:
On iOS:
  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Go to Cellular/Mobile or Mobile Data (depending on the device model)
  3. Add Cellular/Mobile Plan or “Add Data Plan” (depending on the device model)
  4. Select Enter Details Manually. You will be asked to enter:
    • SM-DP+ Address
    • Activation Code
    • Confirmation Code (if available)
  1. Turn on your eSIM under Cellular/Mobile Plan
  2. Select your eSIM for Cellular/Mobile data
  3. Enable Data Roaming (Please turn off your primary line to avoid roaming charges from your carrier provider when overseas)
  4. Set up an APN (access point name) on your device if required. If the APN settings are required for your eSIM, you can find the APN details in the eSIM installation details.
On Android:
  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Tap on Network & Internet
  3. Tap the Add icon next to Mobile Network
  4. Tap Next when asked, “Don’t have a SIM card?”
  5. Tap Enter Code Manually. You will be asked to enter the QR code information (SM-DP+Adress) available on the Manual installation tab on your eSIM installation page.
  6. Turn on your eSIM under Mobile Network
  7. Enable Mobile data
  8. Enable Data Roaming (Please turn off your primary line to avoid roaming charges from your carrier provider when overseas)
  9. Set up an APN (access point name) on your device if required. If the APN settings are required for your eSIM, you can find the APN details in the eSIM installation details
Please review your settings. Follow the below instructions:

To turn on the Data Roaming:

  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Go to Mobile Network
  3. Tap on your eSIM
  4. Make sure Roaming is set to ON.

To update the Access Point Name (APN settings):

  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Go to the Network & Internet section
  3. Go to Mobile Networks
  4. Go to Access Point Names
  5. Tap “+” or “ADD”
  6. Type the new APN settings as written in the eSIM installation details under APN (all lower case, all one word)
  7. Tap save
  8. Leave the other fields blank

Please also ensure that the device is connected to the supported network(s).

On iPhone:
  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Select Cellular (or Network)
  3. Select Cellular Data or Mobile Data.
  4. Look for the SIM for which you’d like to check data usage
  5. Scroll down and look for Current Period.
  6. The number against Current Period shows your data usage.
On Android:
  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Go to the Network & Internet section
  3. Go to Mobile Networks
  4. Go to SIMs
  5. Your data usage will be displayed

TIP: You can also navigate to your phone  “Settings” and search for “Data Usage” and look for Data usage based on SIM.

  1. Check if the eSIM installation is successful
  2. Check if the eSIM is activated
  3. If eSIM is successfully installed and activated, you will see the device will show two network signal icons
  4. Check APN value is correct
  5. Enable Roaming if disabled
  6. Turn on/off Airplane mode
If you are experiencing dropping calls or text message not sent or annoying “reconnecting” alert, you may want to check the signal strength of the network. You can check network signal strength by querying your device or by installing specific apps that provide these details
On iPhone:
  1. Make sure your phone’s WiFi connection is OFF
  2. Open the Phone Dialer app
  3. Tap *3001#12345#*
  4. Tap call button
  5. Tap LTE
  6. Tap Serving Cell Meas
  7. Select rspr0
  8. Value shown on right will be the mobile network strength of the closest cell tower.
Following is a general guide to signal strength:
  • Excellent Excellent: -50 to -79 dBm
  • Good -80 dBm to -89 dBm
  • Average -90 dBm to -99 dBm
  • Poor -100 dBm to -109 dBm
  • Very Poor -110 dBm to -120 dBm


On Android:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Go to About Phone
  3. Status or Network
  4. Select the correct SIM
  5. Check for Signal strength or Network Type and Strength
  6. Value in dBm is the signal strength
